PM Modi launches ‘Viksit Bharat @2047; urges educational institutions to spearhead development

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched ‘Viksit Bharat @2047: Voice of Youth’ via video conferencing, addressing university vice chancellors, heads of institutes and faculty members at workshops across the country. He emphasises the crucial role of educational institutions in personality development and the nation’s overall development. Modi expressed best wishes for the success of the Voice of Youth workshop, underscoring its significance in the present era, according to an official release.

The Prime Minister emphasised that India is currently in a crucial period, referred to as ‘Amrit Kaal,’ where the nation has the opportunity to make significant strides in its development. Drawing inspiration from other countries that experienced rapid development, he stressed that this is the opportune moment for India to take a quantum leap. Referring to the historical struggle for freedom, he highlighted the motivation derived from past movements such as Satyagrah, non-cooperation and educational reforms. The PM urged institutions and individuals to align their efforts and resolutions towards the goal of a developed India. He called on teachers and universities to focus on accelerating the country’s development and identify specific sectors for improvement, the release mentioned.

PM Modi elaborated on the exercise of seeking suggestions, highlighting the aim of creating an Amrit generation prioritising national interests. Beyond education and skills, he emphasised the importance of civic sense and alertness for the national interest. Providing examples of citizen duties like water conservation and using public transport, he urged educators to suggest ways to energise initiatives like ‘Swachhta Abhiyan’ and address lifestyle issues. The PM called on the education fraternity to be role models, ensuring degree holders possess vocational skills, as per the release.

He encouraged comprehensive brainstorming at every level to address these issues. Using the analogy of an examination, he likened the period of developing ‘Viksit Bharat’ to preparation for a crucial exam, highlighting the importance of dedication and discipline over the 25-year Amrit Kaal. The PM stressed the need for continuous effort, stating that the exam date has been declared for citizens, and a 24/7 commitment is required to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat.

Highlighting the demographic strength of India’s youth, Modi emphasised the nation’s leadership in terms of the working-age population for the next 25-30 years. Acknowledging youth as both agents and beneficiaries of change, he underscored the decisive role the next 25 years will play in their careers and societal contributions. Emphasising the youth’s right to shape the vision of a developed India, Modi expressed the government’s commitment to connect every young individual with the action plan. He urged educational institutions, maintaining significant contact with the youth, to play a key role in moulding their voices into policy strategies, the release stated.
