Rail infra growth in Assam! Indian Railways chalk out visionary roadmap for rail modernisation – Key details here

In a significant move towards bolstering rail infrastructure in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a crucial meeting with Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, at Rail Bhawan on Monday (December 11).

The discussions centered on devising a comprehensive roadmap to enhance and modernise the rail network in the northeastern state. In the meeting, Assam CM also discussed ways to address key challenges and harness opportunities for growth to elevate the rail infrastructure and promote economic development in the hill state.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), CM Sarma shared his thoughts on the productive meeting, stating, “Had an excellent discussion with Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw ji regarding the roadmap to enhance and modernise rail infrastructure in Assam. His insights on our newly released Semiconductor Policy were immensely valuable.”

Moreover, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday also announced the successful implementation of digital display boards in over 12,000 train coaches. These innovative boards provide passengers with a range of essential information, including details about the next station, the final destination, the current running status of the train, and important safety messages.

“Digital display boards containing information like forthcoming station, destination, train running status and other safety information/announcement are provided in coaches of trains like Vande Bharat, Push-Pull, TEJAS, Humsafar etc & Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) and Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) trains,” Mr Vaishnaw informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply on December 8.

He added, “AC economy coaches and VISTADOME coaches are also provided with a digital display board. At present, more than 12,000 coaches over Indian Railways are equipped with digital display boards.”
