NHAI expands list of highways to be monetised in round 3 of InVIT

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to revise the list of highway stretches on offer for monetisation in the third round through infrastructure investment trust (InVIT) and have added five more to the bundle.

The addition of new stretches to the six already on offer takes the total length of highways to be monetised through the third round to 1,029 km from 580 km earlier.

“Considering the asset monetisation target of FY23-24 through InvIT mode and the status till date, NHAI has decided to modify and expand round 3 of InvIT,” a senior official said.

The new stretches added to round 3 include Kaljhar to Patacharkuchi in Assam (27km), Lakhnadon to Mahagaon (74 km) and Mohgaon to Khawasa (43 km) in Madhya Pradesh, Hubli to Haveri (62 km) and Davangere to Haveri (71 km), Davangere to Chitradurga (72 km) in Karnataka.

The six sections that were initially offered in round 3 still remain in the list. These sections include Shivpuri section (125 km) in Madhya Pradesh, Chichira-Kharagpur (54.4 km) in West Bengal, Orai-Bara (61.1 km) in Uttar Pradesh, Rewa-Katni- Jabalpur-Lakhnadon (280 km) in Madhya Pradesh and Kachugaon Rakhaldubi Bus Junction-Assam; and Rakhaldubi Bus Junction to Kaljhar-Assam (60 km).

Some of the stretches that have been added to the list are those that were identified for monetisation through the fourth round of InVIT.

For the full year 2023-24, the NHAI expects to raise around Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 crore by monetisation through InVIT. Overall monetisation target for this year is Rs 45,000 crore.
