Delhi continues to struggle with toxic air as AQI remains in ‘very poor’ category
Delhi residents continue to grapple with persistent poor air quality, as the overall air quality remained in the ‘very poor’ category on Wednesday in the national capital, as per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.During the morning hours, various locations reported worrying Air Quality Index (AQI) readings. The IGI Airport recorded an AQI of 355, falling into the ‘very poor’ category, while New Moti Bagh marked 368, also indicating ‘very poor’ air quality. Similarly, Punjabi Bagh registered a concerning AQI of 397, as ANI reported.

Over the recent weeks, Delhi has experienced fluctuating air quality, alternating between ‘severe’ and ‘very poor’ conditions.

On Tuesday, the capital’s air quality persisted in the ‘very poor’ range, as per the CPCB data. RK Puram reported an AQI of 356, while Anand Vihar logged an AQI of 365 at 8 am. Additionally, ITO reported an AQI of 335 on Tuesday morning. Visuals depicted dense fog enveloping the iconic India Gate, significantly reducing visibility.
The air quality index is as follows: ‘good’ (0 to 100), ‘moderate’ (100 to 200), ‘poor’ (200 to 300), ‘very poor’ (300 to 400), and ‘severe’ (400 to 500 or above).
