Campus Hirings: 7 per cent surge in placements from Tier 2, 3 cities; check the latest trend in last 1 year

Campus hiring in tier 2 and tier 3 colleges witnessed a surge of 7 per cent, according to a recent report by the HR tech platform GetWork. The platform has reported considerable changes in the recruitment landscape including a high employee turnover rate and integration of technical advancements like GenAI. The report analysed the recruitment trends between January to November 2023.

As per the report, Banking, financial securities and insurance (BFSI), healthcare, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and retail were the top 5 recruiting industries, posting the highest job openings in 2023. The roles of Business Development Executive, Data Analyst, Customer Service Executive and Digital marketing intern were the most-demanded in 2023.

Top recruiters 2023

It was observed that Multinational Corporations (MNCs) led the placement drives, as compared to the startups, and there was a decline in startup job offers. Leading MNCs like Religare, Sharekhan, Motilal Oswal, HDFC, and Aditya Birla – who were the top 5 recruiters on GetWork in 2023.

2024 recruitment trends

In 2024, Veerwal forecasted BFSI and Healthcare to emerge as the fastest-growing sectors, with Engineering, Manufacturing, Process and Infrastructure sectors witnessing substantial growth.

“2024 is poised to be a great employment year with accelerated recruitment in automobile, manufacturing, Oil and Gas, and Infrastructure sectors. Also, new-age job roles such as AI and ML engineer, followed by Digital Marketer, Healthcare Professional and Human Resource manager are projected to be the most sought-after roles in 2024,” he added.
