Chhattisgarh chief minister-designate, Vishnu Deo Sai, will be taking oath for the CM post tomorrow, December 13, accompanied by his council of ministers, in Raipur on Wednesday, an official statement read.

The swearing-in ceremony will witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah and Mansukh Mandaviya, BJP chief JP Nadda, and several other Chief Ministers from different states. The ceremony has been scheduled for 2 pm at Science College Ground.

Ending the suspense over CM’s face, BJP selected Sai, 59-year-old former Union Minister and Chhattisgarh BJP Chief, as the new Chief Minister on Sunday. Notably, the oath ceremony for Chhattisgarh is being held on the same day as the swearing-in ceremony of Madhya Pradesh CM-designate Mohan Yadav.

Regarding the composition of the new cabinet and the possibility of two deputy CMs, Sai mentioned, “The exact number of leaders who will take oath will be known to everyone on time.”

After being designated as CM, Vishnu Deo said, “CM’s post is very responsible. Today I visited the temple and prayed to Lord Ram and Mata Sita to bless me so that I fulfil my duties as a CM. I also prayed to them to give their blessings to the state… Action will be taken against all those who are corrupt…”, as ANI reported.

Following former Chhattisgarh CM and BJP leader Raman Singh’s announcement during the BJP legislature meeting in Raipur on Sunday, Sai’s candidacy was officially declared after a crucial meeting of the state’s newly-elected 54 MLAs. Sai emerged victorious in the Kunkuri Assembly seat with 87,604 votes.

Sai commenced his political journey as a village sarpanch and ascended to become a member of PM Narendra Modi’s inaugural Council of Ministers in 2014 when the BJP formed a full majority government at the Centre. He has also served multiple terms as an MP.

Despite hailing from a farming family in the small village of Bagia, located in the tribal-dominated Jashpur district, Sai comes from a politically illustrious lineage. His grandfather, late Budhnath Sai, served as a nominated MLA from 1947 to 1952, while other family members have also been actively involved in politics.
