Smart Cities Mission: Rs 1.16 lakh crore utilised so far, Rs 78K crore issued – Know more about India’s mega infra projects

About 6.271 projects worth Rs 1.16 lakh crore have been implemented under the Smart Cities Mission across the 100 selected cities for the mega-project of the Central government, according to the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Kaushal Kishore in a written response to the Rajya Sabha during the ongoing winter session of the parliament.

Objective of Smart Cities Mission

The Smart Cities Mission was launched in 2015 to “promote cities that provide core infrastructure and decent quality of life to citizens, clean and sustainable environment through application of smart solutions. The implementation of the Mission is done through SPV at the City level, while the State Level High Powered Steering Committee (HPSC) is the implementation body for the states. At the National level, an Apex Committee headed by the Secretary, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is the monitoring body of the mission.
