Britain, Japan and Italy sign advanced fighter jet programme treaty

Britain, Japan, and Italy have signed an international treaty to establish a combat air program aimed at developing an advanced fighter jet, according to the British Ministry of Defence. The agreement, which was first reported by Reuters earlier this month, comes a year after the three countries established their first major defense industry collaboration by combining London’s and Tokyo’s separate next-generation fighter efforts.

Parliament security breach: Case under UAPA registered

According to officials, the Delhi Police has registered a case under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in connection with the Parliament security breach. On the 10th anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, two people, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D, jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour. The case has been registered at the Parliament Street police station under IPC sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 452 (trespass), 153 (wantonly giving provocation, with intent to cause riot), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), as well as UAPA sections 16 and 18.

Japan agrees tax cuts to support households, defeat deflation

The tax reform panel of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party has agreed on income tax breaks aimed at offsetting the pain of price hikes on households to help change decades of deflationary mindset, a document reviewed by Reuters showed on Thursday. The LDP, and its small coalition ally Komeito, decided to forego tax hikes for increased defence spending next fiscal year, as Prime Minister Fumio Kishida prioritised the tax cuts as a symbol of government efforts to push a pro-growth agenda.
