From Smart City to Solar City – Yogi government building up new Ayodhya with eight unique concepts
The Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, is intensifying efforts to rejuvenate the historical significance of Ayodhya, which has experienced a decline during the invasions of Arab-Muslim rulers and the era of British colonialism spanning nearly a thousand years.
Yogi Adityanath aims to build the Ayodhya in a new concept. The city is undergoing developmental initiatives based on eight key concepts, with the aim of restoring its unparalleled prosperity and transforming it into a city of prominence. In addition, Adityanath is placing a significant emphasis on transforming Ayodhya into a solar city, aiming to decrease its reliance on conventional electricity sources.
Since the ascent of the Modi government at the center in 2014 and the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh in 2017, comprehensive development plans for Ayodhya have been set in motion. Approximately 178 projects, amounting to around Rs 30,500 crores, have been initiated to elevate Ayodhya into a world-class city. The government’s dedication to realising Ayodhya’s transformation into a globally recognised city is approaching fruition.
Yogi Adityanath has consistently directed officials to base their efforts on eight fundamental concepts for the revival of Ayodhya’s grandeur. Tangible progress is now evident as the government rapidly advances initiatives to bring Saketpuri, situated on Lord Vishnu’s wheel, to the forefront in the forms of Sanskritik (cultural) Ayodhya, Saksham (capable) Ayodhya, Adhunik (modern) Ayodhya, Sugmay (accessible) Ayodhya, Surmay (beautiful) Ayodhya, Bhawatmak (emotional) Ayodhya, Swacch (clean) Ayodhya, and Ayushman (healthy) Ayodhya.
Here is the list of eight unique concepts on which Yogi Adityanath is building up the new Ayodhya:
Sanskritik Ayodhya
Cultural Ayodhya – the objective is to transform Ayodhya into the cultural capital of India. Initiatives include the establishment of magnificent monasteries, temples, and ashrams, the construction of grand city gates, and the implementation of projects such as temple museums—all aligned with this strategic plan.
Saksham Ayodhya
In line with the Saksham Ayodhya concept, efforts are underway to develop Ayodhya as a fully self-reliant city. The objective is to generate substantial employment opportunities through various channels, including daily jobs, tourism, as well as religious and cultural activities.
Adhunik Ayodhya
In pursuit of Adhunik Ayodhya, the sacred city is undergoing a modernisation process, introducing a range of amenities. Initiatives such as Smart City, Safe City, Solar City, and Greenfield Township are shaping Ayodhya in alignment with these modernisation efforts.
Sugmay Ayodhya
In adherence to the Sugmay Ayodhya concept, whether it’s the development of the Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport, the revitalisation of Ayodhya Dham Railway Station, or the establishment of connections between Saryu and the inland waterway, the Yogi government is diligently working to enhance the accessibility of Ayodhya. Additionally, various routes are being facilitated to ensure that devotees can conveniently reach this sacred city.
Surmay Ayodhya
Under Surmay Ayodhya, efforts are focused on enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the city. This includes beautifying numerous ponds, lakes, and ancient reservoirs, reviving old gardens, establishing new ones, and improving the city’s allure through heritage lighting systems that eliminate the clutter of wires. Street illumination with facade lighting and various initiatives are contributing to the development of Ayodhya as an enchanting city.
Bhavnatmak Ayodhya
In alignment with Bhavnatmak Ayodhya, the emotional bond that the global Sanatani community shares with the birthplace of Lord Shri Rama is deeply significant. Considering this, every aspect of Ayodhya is being infused with the sentiment of being connected to Shri Ram. With this objective, cultural enhancements are being incorporated into city walls, roadsides, and intersections.
Swach Ayodhya
As the name suggests, Swach Ayodhya, cleanliness takes precedence as a top priority for the Yogi government in its vision of a smart city. Comprehensive efforts are underway, encompassing cleanliness initiatives and the development of drainage and sewer systems within the city. The Chief Minister has pledged to make Ayodhya, emerging as a prominent center for tourism and religious faith, the cleanest city in the country.
Ayusham Ayodhya
In the Ayusham Ayodhya concept, the health infrastructure of Ayodhya has been reinforced to deliver high-quality and convenient medical facilities to patients. The Rajarshi Dashrath Medical College, operated by AIIMS and one of five such institutions in the country, not only provides medical services but also conducts extensive research on emergency medical facilities.
