Madhya Pradesh Elections 2023: Mohan Yadav takes oath as Chief Minister, Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla sworn in as deputies

Madhya Pradesh Elections 2023: Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Mohan Yadav on Wednesday took oath as the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh along with two other MLAs being sworn in as deputy CMs at Bhopal’s Lal Parade Ground. The swearing-in ceremony, presided over by Governor Mangubhai C Patel, commenced at 11.30 am, with Yadav taking oath in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other BJP-ruled state chief ministers.

Yadav’s appointment, supported by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), marks his succession as the fifth BJP CM and the 19th Chief Minister of the state, following in the footsteps of Sunderlal Patwa, Uma Bharti, Babulal Gaur, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Earlier in the day, reflecting on his vision for the state, Yadav stated, “Madhya Pradesh will follow the footsteps just in the way Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the country. I come from the land of King Vikramaditya and I am committed to the progress of the state and fulfil the aspirations of crores of citizens of Madhya Pradesh. We will see the same good governance that existed during the rule of King Vikramaditya.”

In the 2023 Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, the BJP secured victory by claiming 163 out of 230 seats, negating all anti-incumbency factors as . The new Chief Minister secured a victory in his constituency, Ujjain Dakshin, with 95,699 votes, winning by a margin of 12,941. While Rajendra Shukla won from Rewa, Jagdish Dewda emerged victorious in the recently concluded Assembly polls from Malhargarh.
