In an effort to bolster India’s aerospace manufacturing and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) sector, Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel Jyotiraditya Scindia has urged leaders of major aerospace manufacturing companies to present a collaborative plan charting out the requirements they have from each department of the Government of India. This would facilitate the expansion of supply chains for aerospace manufacturing within the country.

Scindia also engaged in detailed discussions with MROs regarding their operational and taxation challenges during the Advisory Group meeting with Aerospace Manufacturers and MROs. He assured the firms that selected taxation and regulatory issues would be reconsidered, emphasizing collective efforts to enhance the financial viability of MROs. He further reiterated the ministry’s dedication to establishing India as a global hub for aviation, aiming to create a robust and globally competitive aviation ecosystem.

Uttar Pradesh to get nine more airports

Earlier this month, Scindia announced that the state of Uttar Pradesh will be getting nine more airports in the next two years. This would take the total number of airports in the state to 18. He had said that the Modi government is giving a huge importance to the civil aviation sector, adding it has developed 75 airports in the last nine years, compared to 74 airports in the first 65 years of independence.
