Government school infrastructure equals top private institutions, says CM Kejriwal
On Monday, Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, inaugurated an auditorium at a government school in the Civil Lines area, emphasising that the infrastructure of state-run schools rivals that of top private institutions. During the event, Kejriwal highlighted the historical significance of government schools, noting that many prominent individuals received their education in such institutions in the initial decades following India’s independence when private schools were scarce, according to an official statement.
Kejriwal reiterated the Aam Aadmi Party’s commitment to prioritising education, citing a remarkable transformation in the infrastructure of government schools in Delhi over the past eight years. He asserted that the facilities in government schools now stand on par with those in prestigious private schools, leading to increased confidence among students. Kejriwal acknowledged the financial challenges associated with quality education and emphasised the administration’s efforts in dispelling the belief that money is a prerequisite for a good education.
During the inauguration event, Atishi, education minister, Delhi has also stated that the newly inaugurated auditorium surpasses not only private institutions but also large multiplexes. She asserted that no private school in Delhi can match the facilities of the ASoSE in Raj Niwas. Providing details, the Delhi government disclosed that the auditorium has a seating capacity of 335 people and is equipped with features such as a speaker system, subwoofer, stage monitoring system, wireless presentation capabilities and other essential amenities, the statement noted.
