Biggest unanswered Question: How did accused bypass detection in Lok Sabha despite physical frisking?

Lok Sabha security breach: In a massive security breach of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday afternoon, two men invaded the house while the proceedings were on. The intruders were seen jumping from the gallery and trying to run to the Well. In the shocking incident which was caught on the camera, the intruders were seen using smoke bomb canisters which emitted colorful gas in the chamber. Reports say that they were carrying the smoke bombs in their shoes. While the Home Ministry is set to probe the incident which coincides with the 22nd anniversary of the terror attack on Parliament, several urgent questions need immediate answers.

It was initially said that the gas canisters released tear gas in the chamber but it was later confirmed that they were smoke bombs. Following the breach, both parliamentary chambers were adjourned, and security escorted all MPs out. As of now, six individuals are being probed for the incident. Out of these, four have been detained and two are on the run.

A question arises on the level of security within the premises of the Parliament. How did the intruders manage to enter the building with foreign objects? It is also important to note that the physical frisking of the intruders did not raise any suspicion of them carrying foreign objects. The security officials failed to intercept the foreign objects as the accused made entry into the Lok Sabha.

The incident occurred exactly 22 years after the Parliament attack that took place in 2001 during which armed terrorists targeted the building.

There are multiple levels of security that any visitor goes through before entering the main building premises. Visitor passes necessitate background checks and recommendation letters from MPs, followed by stringent security measures: thorough frisking, no personal items allowed, multiple scans, and Aadhaar card verification. Security protocols include metal detectors, RFID vehicle control, and baggage screening as per Parliament’s security manual. Visitors undergo checks at various points, ensuring valid permits and screenings, monitored closely to prevent disruptions or misconduct, and adhering to official security procedures.

Despite such stringent security measures, the intruders managed to breach it and enter Parliament.
